PROFESSOR RODRIGO CARVALHO | HEAD INSTRUCTOR

Rodrigo Carvalho is Black Belt Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instructor raised in the heart of the Amazon. He was born in the state of Roraima in Boa Vista, Brazil, which is located in the extreme north of Brazil. He has moved to Canada and is the Head Instructor at Gracie Barra Vancouver.

Rodrigo started Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 1994 and has been extensively teaching Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Through his ability to utilize his knowledge of technique flow, he has won in many notable competitions. These major titles include the World Championship (2001, 2005), the National in South Brazil, Silver in North / Northeast (1999, 2007), Silver in the Brazilian National Wrestling, 5 time Roraima Champion and 3 time Amazon Champion. Additionally, he is also a fully certified CBJJ referee.

Rodrigo has trained several students that have won World Jiu-Jitsu Championships, Brazil Nationals and MMA Tournaments. He has used his knowledge of self-defense to train Brazilian Army in Brasilia, Brazil (Capital) from 2006-2007. In 2008-2009, he taught self-defense for the Police Force in Boa Vista State of Roraima, Brazil.

Rodrigo has a masters degree in Physiotherapy Uniceub University in Brazil giving him experience in the physical needs of athletes. He is interested in the formation of character and behaviour of athletes teaching to have physical and mental health.
